Why Kurt Cobain Should Be Alive.. Suicide’s a Permanent Solution To Temporary Problems… :’(

Kurt Cobain. Another name lost to the hundreds of musicians who have committed suicide over the past few years. He was only 27 years of age when his body was found at his Seattle home on the 8th of April, 1994. He had shot himself in head, poor chap. If you go onto Wikipedia,[ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurt_Cobain] or any other site and read his biography, you feel a great deal of pity for the man, and you ask yourself this question: Why?

Today I saw a movie called ’3 Idiots’. There was a a case or two of suicide in this movie [hopefully I'm not being a great spoiler] and when I came home today, I realized that life really is a wonderful thing. There’s no point keeping all your woes in and crying about it and then finally cutting yourself, or jumping off a building or shooting your brain out of your head. You can find a way out that doesn’t concern topping yourself.

Cobain’s music has always been a mode of inspiration to me. Through his lyrics, I found what it REALLY is like to be a teenager with teenage woes of love, life, and school. He wrote about the angst that young people feel, the insecurites, the need to fit in and how we always get around it and try our best. What he didn’t learn, was to try and follow his own advice.

What’s happened after his death, is that people’s fascination with him has grown tenfold. He has been called an icon. A legend. A true prodigy in the music world. But for what? Killing himself? Can he see all this now? Is he enjoying the fame and the fortune? Well, yeah, he may be smoking pot in heaven, but the point is we miss him. Us fans miss him. Yes, I was only two when he died. But he’s STILL famous enough for me to tell my kids about when I’m grown up and married and shit. A person like that truly is a legend. But its because he is frozen in time. Forever 27. Forever a musician. A free spirit. A tragedy. So many things; but NOT alive.

Really makes you wonder, doesnt it? Why. What was going through his head?

He even had a daughter. A wife, Courtney Love[As demented as she may still, today, be], he had his band. But he couldn’t see that. He couldnt see their love for him. Dave Grohl, ex-drummer of Nirvana, lead singer of Foo Fighters recalls that Cobain’s death was the worst thing to ever happen to him.

But Kurt still left his family, his best friends, his fans, and his career behind. He didnt see the tears. He’s at peace. But he left us in turmoil.

Many artists today are trying to stamp out the sorrow called ‘Suicide’. May it be among themselves, their friends, or their fans, they are trying to make it less prominent a cause of death in society. My own favorite band, Tokio Hotel, have written a song about it called ‘Sping Nicht’ ['Don't Jump' is the english version of the song] and what they are all trying to say is that you are never alone.

 Bill Kaulitz, of Tokio Hotel

There is always someone. A friend. A family member. Your favorite singer can help too! When you’re down, just listen to peaceful happy music, call a friend you can trust [my favorite thing to do when I'm sad. Ask my best friends! They are actually quite sick of my drama... :/ I REALLY owe the darlings, bless them.], call a family member, take a stroll in the park; DO something. ANYTHING. But don’t leave the people you love in turmoil…

Death is not a beautiful thing. No matter how many times you try to convince yourself that your funeral will be a beautiful ceremony, full of regret and sorrow. There will be regret. There will be sorrow. But there is no beauty. We are BORN to prove that. When we die, we must try to keep it for later. Remember to tell yourself: ” I can die later. But I can never be who I am now, again.” If only someone had said that to Kurt Cobain.. :’(

‘I Don’t Love You’ by My Chemical Romance and How It Stole My Heart

Hey guys!!
I’m sorry my posts keep getting delayed, but there really is nothing I can do about it, except get better and better at writing them, every time I DO write one! Anyway, this time around, I’ve got you a band very close to my heart [the band that inspired my manic thrill for music] the one and only mY ChEmIcAl rOmaNcE with their song ‘I Don’t Love You’.
Song’s Album Art

To get the drift-

“I Don’t Love You” is the sixth track from My Chemical Romance’s third studio album, The Black Parade and is the tenth overall single from the band. It was released April 2, 2007, to the UK., following “Welcome to the Black Parade” and “Famous Last Words”, both of which were AWSOME hits for the band.
While the band was touring, they began to record using the bus’s recording unit. “I Don’t Love You” was one of the only songs to be used on the second-to-last album from the tour bus jam sessions. Ray Toro and Gerard Way can be seen playing an early version of the song from the tour bus sessions on the 2006 DVD Life on the Murder Scene at about 1:57:13 on the first disc.
The song has MANY interpretations to it, and I’ll let you know mine;

The Band Again.
Deeper into it:
The song is a ballad, i.e.; it has a storyline to it. Now, many people have racked their already fried brains trying to figure out what exactly lead singer Gerard Way is trying to say through the heartbreaking and gut-wrenching emotions that line his voice throughout the song, but there have only been a few theories which stand out.
Gerard Way, frontman, MCR.

One: The song is about domestic abuse. The lyrics are said from a woman’s POV, and she has suffered long and hard at the hands for her husband who beats here every day and then comes and apologizes for it, “Sometimes I cry so hard from pleading/ So sick and tired of all the needless beating” She basically says that she’s had enough and that he should just leave and then while leaving, confess to his crap and “have the guts to say,/ ‘I don’t love you like I did yesterday’.”

The Couple
The second one is along similar lines, but the story is that the husband is a boxer and the wife does not want him to continue with his career because it is simply ruining their lives as a couple because she feels he does not love her as much as he did before the height of his career. She’s emphasizing that to ear a living he has to go through getting beaten up every day “Another dollar’s just another blow” and he owes people money and ‘blood’ every time he loses a fight, “Well after all the blood that you still owe”. She cant stand to see him put himself through this, so she’s saying that if he wants to continue, she would rather he leave, “Take your gloves and get out” and while leaving prove that she was right about him by saying, “I don’t love you like I did yesterday”.

OR The third version is directly linking it to the album’s theme of ‘The Patient’ who is the character all the songs are based on in ‘The Black Parade’ [To understand this, check THIS out!! ^^- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_kZb2zwQy0] The patient is angry at his lover for deserting him in his time of need, and he never wants to see her again, even though he is dying.

The Gloves
A photograph of boxing gloves next to the song’s lyrics in the DVD version of the album, does a lot to prove that the second theory may be right. HOWEVER, I DO want YOUR interpretations of the song once you’ve listened to it, because it would give me great threshold into the world of this mysterious little ballad. :) Whoo! We should just call Gerard and ask him!! <3

The music video was directed by Marc Webb who also directed three previous My Chemical Romance music videos, from their Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge album. Webb was chosen instead of Sam Bayer who directed “Welcome to the Black Parade” and “Famous Last Words” from their third studio album The Black Parade. The music video is about two lovers in a strange abstract world, and the video seems to tell the story of how their love quickly withers away until one leaves the other alone The video is in a color format, most likely to simulate more contrast between the two lovers. It is really a bizarre video for the song and I felt they could have done more with it, given the intense storyline of the song.

What I think:
Well, I’ve GOT to tell you guys this- It’s the most played song on my iPod. The very first time I heard it, it struck a chord deeeeeep within me, like no other song ever has. Way’s voice completely takes over my body every time I listen to the song and I let myself get immersed in its powerful guitar solos, [Courtesy, Ray Toro, lead guitarist of MCR] steady and heart-thumping drum beats and that oh-so-wonderful chorus of “I don’t love you like I loved you yesterday”! Ah, my very soul sings. I think every one who has been in a relationship that has ended badly will understand what the song is getting at. I think the overall message of being committed to the one you love runs strong and clear with the exploding guitar [see the video to get my drift! :)] My favourite part is the guitar solo in the song from 2:44 to 3:05 [in the video version] VERY tragic-sounding with the guitar SCREAMING the narrator’s pleading and pain into your heart…
The video was not really my cup of tea, but needless to say, Frank Iero [The guitarist with the emo hair and tattoo of the scorpion on his neck] is seriously worth looking out for! ;)
I give it a four out of five and four <3 <3 <3 <3’s for the storyline and the message and of course, Gerard Way’s KILLER vocals.

What other critics said:
The song nabbed a positive 4/5 star review from music site Pitchfork Media, who claimed: “..it’s the band’s first proper power ballad and, well, they should definitely think about writing dozens more.” :D
That’s all I found because their seem to be very few reviews done on it as it not one of the more famous songs of MCR. :(
“I Don’t Love You” debuted at #65 on the UK Singles Chart on downloads alone on March 25, 2007. It climbed to number #35, still on downloads alone the next week, on April 1, 2007. It rose to #13 in its physical release.
On May 24, 2007, “I Don’t Love You” debuted at #3 on the Galgalatz Israel Top 20.
The Band

Anyway, that’s it for me. :D Hope you liked the song and my review. REMEMBER, I want your theories on what the song could mean. Just sum it up in a sentence or two in my comment box, down below. :)
MCR really do take my breath away, especially cause this is one of their less…. VIOLENT songs.^^
